Page 1 of 6 The most challenging problems facing our district center on Education, Housing, Economic Opportunity, Health Care, and Political Leadership. Because of Adam’s deep personal and professional experience in each of these areas, he is well equipped to understand how to best meet each of these challenges. As a teacher, lawyer, housing advocate, political leader, a protector of workers’ rights, and husband, Adam’s unique background and perspective provide keys to common sense, innovative, and fiscally responsible solutions.
These are not easy challenges with simple solutions. But we can do better. We must do better. It is simply unacceptable that the children in public schools in every state except for Louisiana and Mississippi perform better than our children do. It is unacceptable that so few of our neighbors can afford to buy a home (the median home price in California has just surpassed $500,000). It is unacceptable that almost one in four children in California live below the poverty line (a family of four living on less than $18,000).
In our pursuit of the traditional Democratic ideals of opportunity, community and social justice, we must come together to support candidates such as Adam who will advocate for common sense solutions that will improve peoples’ everyday lives.
There are numerous ways we can help to ensure that everyone shares in California’s bountiful opportunities. Here are a few of the common sense solutions that Adam plans to focus on in Sacramento.
- Excellence in Education
- Accessibility of Homeownership
- Economic Opportunity
- Health Care
- Strong Progressive Political Leadership
